THE GNEISS EDITION

There will be stories

You don’t own a Gneiss product, you wear it in. You let it appreciate. You let it soak in the memories and earn its character. Like a well-travelled companion who tells a good story, the Gneiss edition is designed to document the memory of your journeys and live to tell the tale in the form of a meaningful patina that is uniquely your own. Wherever you’re headed, you know there will be stories. Let the Gneiss make them unforgettable.

Their Æra 16L Story

Kajsa Larsson

This Æra 16L Backpack has been broken in by Kajsa. She had it for 3 months before the first clean and what we love in this story is that you see the life she leads. Dirt scars at the base, coffee stains from her coffee maker in her van and a beautiful fade from her everyday usage by the sea at her parents cabin in Sweden.

THE STRøM 20L BY

Steff Gutovska

Need to know Steff? Just have a look at this pack. We wanted to know more about the van trip she took up around Lofoten with her boyfriend. So we read her bag. There are scuff marks from all the times she’s pulled the pack out from her van, bruising on the underside when she’s realised she’s left something important behind and chucked it on the floor, and scratches from the pine needles on hiking pit stops. Oh all the blueberries they found? Yep, they left their mark too.

THE STRøM 30L BY

Noah Lane

There’s sand and mud everywhere. But brush that off and you get a deeper story. The waxed cordura tells everything from a fun story of travels from his home back to his Irish base to when, just a week ago, he got locked out from his car together with @chrismcclean while shooting this campaign. This Strøm 30L backpack has been across the world and back again with Noah, and we’re loving the look of it.

THE RAMVERK 26L BY

William Larsson

William Larsson, the big mountain skier, went road cycling this summer. How do we know that? We read his bag. There’s a tiny bit of oil grease on the side, there are marks from when he put the bike on the bag in the back of the car, and multiple scuffs from all the times he scratched the bag against the bike passing through his tight hallway. Everything is written onto his Strøm 20L, it's who he is. Part backpack, part journal and 100% personal.

Fabric that tells stories

From the moment you throw a piece from the Gneiss collection over your shoulder or on your back, it will start to adjust to your life. Made with wax-coated, fully recycled Nylon, you use a Gneiss to preserve the stories of your travels. It patinas with use; scuffing and blurring to immortalise what you wore, where you went and how you got there. Think of it as a wearable travel journal; deeply personal and uniquely yours.

Scuff marks from Ireland

When you work with a new material, you have to test it. You have to see how it behaves in certain climates, how it holds up to usage, and whether ultimately, it will do the job you need it to. We knew we needed to put our wax-coated Cordura to the test. Big time. So we headed off to Ireland to surf (yes, it was cold). We connected with some friends and went searching for some Irish swell, and let our Gneiss bags record the moments. The bags had back-up of course; in-house photographer Hallvard Kolltveit and videographer Chris McClean, were on hand to capture the visuals the bags missed; like Ainara Aymat and Noah Lane hunting for some off-grid surf on all-electric CAKE Ösa bikes. It was a helluva trip.

“It reminds me of why we look a little further on the map. Why comfort is not always the goal. It's the excitement we find in places only small planes go; where the roads are bumpy and it's best to order fish.”
