Next Generation Surf Luggage: The Surf Roller Pro

6 years ago, we launched the first version and have since worked on editions with Stab, Craig Anderson, New Amsterdam Surf Association, Wasted Talent, and more. During that time, we have supplied 3350 bags and saved three times that number of boards from baggage handlers, from the Maldives to the Mentawais, Bali & beyond, and yes, even just down to the local break. We’ve won awards, secured patents and trademarks, and met a bunch of new friends along the way.

Today, we are launching the new version, which, we feel, once again takes the industry into a new space with Db-owned innovations: NoseJob™, Tailgate™, and Rib Cage Technology™. All designed to ensure your boards are fully protected every step of the way. Because they deserve more than just bubble wrap and prayers. Who knows what luggage handlers get up to behind the scenes, but we sure don’t want to find out. Our boards are precious in more ways than one. If you don’t surf, you likely won’t understand.

We had Jordy Smith come through the office in Oslo to chat to our designers, arranged online calls with surfers around the world, and spoke to retailers about what they see as potential upgrades we could make. This is one of our spearhead products. In the same sense, the Snow Roller Pro, Skate Duffle Pro and Ramverk™ Pro series are the best of what we do. When we approach a category, we do so as active participants in that sport or discipline. The Surf Roller Pro is a product where we cut no corners, add foam to every seam, and spare no cost.

We know we could have done this differently. Maybe stripped it down, made it lighter, saved some money here and there. But much like we approached the Snow Roller Pro, the Skate Duffle, and Ramverk™ Pro Front-Access, we listened to the needs of the people putting in a couple hundred days a year on the road and built this for them. Because if they can keep the tools that give them their livelihood as pro surfers in good shape, that will work for the rest of us.

Do making these things make business sense? No. The CFO likely doesn’t understand why we spend time and energy on these. But he doesn’t surf. You do. So we’ll keep building the best damn products we can for the sports that keep us moving.

The Surf Roller Pro is available now.

The only downside? You won’t go viral with a broken surfboard video.
