Mammoth Mountain, California.

Mammoth Mountain is one of the best early-season ski resorts in the US. The high elevation of the mountain ensures reliable snow throughout the season. You can access this premier California resort starting in November and take advantage of the 3,500 acres of terrain until June or July. The California sunshine is another plus.

Go for the freestyle parks.

The resort is known for its expansive terrain parks. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re an experienced rider or a novice. Brighton Resort, Utah.

Located at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon, Brighton was the first ski resort to open in Utah. Coincidentally, it’s also Sage Kotsenburg’s happy place. The snowboarder and Db ambassador attributes the “strong whiff of the 1990s and early 2000s snowboarding culture” as a reason for it being one of his favorite spots in the U.S.

Go for the overall experience.

In addition to being the first Utah ski resort to open, Brighton was also one of the first spots to embrace snowboarding. This translates into a welcoming vibe, varied terrain, and options for night riding and backcountry access.

Ride the Slopes in Colorado.

Colorado mountains are renowned for their high quality snow and varying terrain, ensuring an enjoyable experience for everyone from the most professional snowboarder to those who are just starting their snow journey. This makes Colorado the premier snowboarding destination in the country.

Our other favorite spots.

  • Aspen (Snowmass): Three terrain parks, two halfpipes, and ample space to ride along groomed slopes. ONe pass gives you access to the other Aspen resorts as well, including Aspen Mountain, Highlands, and Buttermilk.

  • Breckenridge: Take advantage of the five peaks, high-alpine bowls, and wide groomed slopes while enjoying the scenic views.

  • Vail: A classic choice for any freerider, offering expansive bowls on the mountain and a true luxury village feel at the base.

Remember to Pack Your Gear in a Snowboard Bag.

Air travel adds unique considerations: most airlines allow only one checked bag and one carry-on, so your snowboard bag carries the bulk of your equipment. Choosing the right bag with ample internal volume, padding, and wheels makes check-in, airport transfers, and baggage handling far easier.

Efficient packing keeps your gear secure, prevents damage, and helps avoid airline baggage fees. Focus on getting to the slopes ready to ride instead of wrestling with luggage.

Db Journey’s luggage offers supportive structure and practical compartments, helping you stay organized on your trip.
