Db

At Db, we believe that by venturing out into the world you come back as better people. It’s our value and guiding belief. Now, after three years of traveling, picking brains and sharing moments with people that shape the culture we live in, this belief is stronger than ever.

We don’t know if Season 3 of Pack Heavy, Chase Light is the grand finale of the series, but if it ends up being so, it feels like it would be a fitting ending. When we first came up with the Pack Heavy, Chase Light YouTube concept three years ago, in proper Db fashion we didn’t really plan it out in detail. We let the process shape the journey, and then in turn, let journey shape us.

And what a journey it has been.

Season 1 saw us ask ‘Who’, Season 2 ‘How’ and Season 3, sees us ask ‘Why’.

Why do the people in our communities do what they do?
Why does Andrew King surf the biggest waves in the world and ice-climb high mountains?
Why does Lucy Hickling devote every second of her being to create groundbreaking outputs for Fred Again, On Running and many others?
Why did Sage Kotsenburg stop competing after his Olympic gold in favor of chasing lines in the backcountry?

The list goes on and on.

This Season of Pack Heavy, Chase Light sees us venture out into the world (again) to bring you a deep dive into the heads of the people we look up to. We have conversations with the likes of Ishod Wair, Mia Brooks, Willy Cartier, Beatrice Domond, Ron Tinehim, Hank Stowers, and the wonderful duo of Frankie Harrer & Hugo Boserup.

Did we lose a couple of camera bags in Barcelona? Maybe.
Did we experience the strongest earthquake in New York in a century? Yup.
Did we ski on an active volcano in Portland? You bet.

Yes, there were some sketchy moments, but on the plus side our rental car bag-tetris game is stronger than ever, and by this point we’re (mostly) flying through the airport chaos. Only those of you who follow Sam on Instagram will get the joke.

After three years of doing this, both me and Sam can say that we are coming back as better people which takes us nicely back to the Db ethos; go out there, meet people, do all of the things and learn the culture. You’ll come back a little wiser than when you started.

Enjoy.
