How decisions get made

Who's accountable

Sustainability isn't a side project reporting to nobody. It sits with a member of the executive committee, alongside product — because the decisions that matter get made in product development, not in a report.

It's written into the company's constitution

In December 2025 we rewrote Db's articles of association. Two things changed.

Our purpose

The articles now state that the purpose of the company is to run its business and to create a significant positive impact on society and the environment, both locally and globally.

What directors must think about

When the board decides anything, each director is required to consider the effects it could have on shareholders; on employees, suppliers and customers; on society; on the environment, locally and globally; on the company's short-term and long-term interests; and on Db's ability to create that positive impact. Not just the financial return.

What isn't working

Two honest limits. Directors have to weigh all of those interests, but the articles don't require them to put any one of them first — the environment doesn't automatically outrank the balance sheet, and a hard trade-off is still a judgment call. And the clause confers rights on the company alone: nobody outside Db can take us to court over it. It changes what our board is obliged to consider, not who can hold us to it. That's how these provisions are written everywhere they exist. We'd rather set out what it does and doesn't cover than let the word "legally" do more work than it should.

B Corp

Db is a certified B Corp, re-certified in September 2026 against B Lab's current standards. That means an independent body checked how we're actually run — our governance, our workers, our supply chain, our climate work, how we treat customers — not just what we say about it. Certification expires, and you have to earn it again against a standard that keeps getting harder.

The rules we hold ourselves to

Code of Conduct for us and for our suppliers. Restricted substances requirements. Marketing and communications policy. Anti-corruption and whistleblowing. Speak Up, a confidential channel open to anyone inside or outside Db. All of them are on our Policies page.

How we report

Once a year, publicly, under the European Sustainability Reporting Standards, plus a separate Norwegian Transparency Act statement. We measure our emissions the same way every year so the numbers can be compared. We are not perfect, but we publish anyway.

What isn't working.

ESG ownership across departments is still too concentrated in one team. We also regularly find and correct mistakes in our own published reporting. We'd rather restate a number than quietly leave it wrong.
